December 3, 2020

Also recognising career success on International Day of People with Disabilities is Job Centre Australia’s inspiring candidate Josh.

Today being International Day of People with Disability – Australia, Job Centre Australia recognises the career success of another one of our inspiring candidates, 27-year-old Josh from Newcastle.

Known for the best pizzas in town, local business Rosina’s Pizza Restaurant, are a strong supporter of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Partnering with local employment provider Job Centre Australia (JCAL), Rosina’s are helping to create life long careers for people with barriers.

Josh came to Job Centre Australia (JCAL) with a background in hospitality but found the high pressure environment of working back of house was not for him. Working initially with JCAL to overcome his barriers, Josh’s dislike for the hospitality industry soon became his passion when he found a role as a Trainee Supervisor with Rosina’s Pizza Restaurant. Studying toward a Cert IV in Leadership and Management, Josh is enjoying working front of house and is now looking forward to a bright career within the hospitality industry.

Josh proudly says, “All of this would not be possible without the opportunities I have been given by both Rosina’s Pizza Restaurant and JCAL. I really enjoy working with Luigi (Proprietor) as he is very accommodating to my disability, is a great boss, is understanding and easy to talk to.”

Having worked with Rosina’s Pizza Restaurant for the past three years, JCAL have built a strong partnership with Proprietor Luigi. “It is employers such as Luigi who promote inclusive and diverse working environments that really provide opportunities for people with barriers to thrive. Luigi has employed four JCAL candidates over the years and each of them have excelled in the supportive environment that Rosina’s provides,” Anthony Workman, Operations Manager Lower Hunter. “Josh is progressing well in his traineeship having now been in his role for six months. The feedback from Luigi is that Josh is a really good reliable worker.”
