A profound love for animals, dedication, and the dream to be the next Tim Faulkner, a leader in the Australian zoo industry, secured Joshua a place in the Taronga Zoo Animal Care Certificate II course.
Since joining Omnia Inclusive’s Youth NDIS Services in January 2023, Joshua’s progress has been inspiring, and shows what determination, resilience and the support of a dedicated team can achieve.
Joshua started his journey by building his employment skills and completing a work experience placement at the Cat Hotel in Sydney. This was followed by a volunteering position at Taronga Zoo. He quickly realised he had a real passion for animal care!
While completing his Animal Care Cert III at TAFE in 2023, Joshua expressed his desire to further his education in the industry by enrolling in Taronga Zoo’s Animal Care Certificate II course. With the assistance of his Omnia Inclusive team, who conducted role-playing interviews and helped Joshua independently check his emails regularly to stay up-to-date with progress, he successfully applied for the course. All of this was accomplished whilst also balancing his one-week work placement at the Australian Reptile Park!
Joshua’s journey is just beginning. His Autism doesn’t hold him back, it’s his superpower that fuels his determination, passion, and commitment to achieving his dream of working with animals.
He is well on his way to being the next leader in the zoo industry!
