Purpose of the role

The Career Specialist plays a key role in supporting people with disabilities to achieve meaningful, sustainable employment. This role works closely with participants to understand their strengths, goals and barriers, and provides tailored guidance, coaching and practical support to build confidence, job readiness and long-term career pathways.

Through a person-centred approach, the Career Specialist develops individualised employment plans, connects participants with suitable opportunities, and partners with employers to create inclusive and supportive workplaces. The role contributes to positive participant outcomes while meeting program objectives and delivering a high-quality, strengths-based service experience.

About the role

A Career Specialist provides support to Participants to identify strengths, areas of development and appropriate strategies to support them in achieving meaningful, long-term employment.

The Career Specialist provides tailored support to the Participant through the initial engagement to build trust, assess their capabilities, areas of strength, career aspirations and any barriers to build a comprehensive job plan.

The Career Specialist also proactively utilises the career pathway framework to determine the most appropriate support package that will provide a positive customer experience for the participant and transition them to job readiness.

We’re looking for people with expertise and a genuine commitment to supporting others into meaningful employment opportunities. Experience in employment services or NDIS will be considered, and qualifications in employment services, career development, or community services would be highly regarded. A targeted induction and training program will also be offered.

• Resilience, strong problem-solving and planning skills

• Experience in disability employment or an understanding of the barriers faced by individuals with disability in accessing employment

• A track record of meeting or exceeding KPIs

• The ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated

• Strong digital literacy skills

• Excellent customer service and communication skills

• Strong administration and attention to detail

• Passionate about making a meaningful impact through employment

• The ability to create and foster meaningful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

• Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

• A current driver’s licence and the ability to travel within the region
