Andrew Evans

Team Leader
Lower Hunter, NSW
Why did you choose to work in Disability Employment Services?

I began working with Omnia Inclusive in 2023 as a Team Leader, coordinating a Colocation Employment Partnership with Hunter New England Mental Health (HNEMH). With qualifications in Communications, Tertiary Teaching, and Education Support, I’ve built a career around my passion for supporting and inspiring people—especially young people—to become the best version of themselves. Both Omnia Inclusive and HNEMH are forward-thinking organisations, committed to breaking down employment barriers and recognising the vital role meaningful work plays in active recovery.

What do you like about working at Omnia Inclusive?

Omnia Inclusive focuses on tailoring employment support into a holistic experience that prioritises not only job placement and support in employment, but also overall well-being. The team I work with all share a strong sense of purpose and are here for the right reasons, demonstrating an authentic and genuine interest in our participants—their backgrounds and their futures. They go above and beyond in their support and dedication to their roles.

I’m really proud to coordinate the partnership with the HNEMH teams and to have co-located our employment specialists within these teams. The program is a “one-stop shop” for participants, providing a strong foundation and scaffolding that significantly enhances the support around their employment journey.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I have always lived by the mantra that “the quality of attention you bring to a person is the central moral act of your life.” In a society where individuals with disabilities often face significant barriers to employment, it’s incredibly rewarding to be part of a team that ensures each person receives the attention and quality support they need to thrive—both personally and professionally. I feel so proud when a participant exits the program as an independent worker.

What is a fun fact about yourself that people may not know?

Music is my outlet. I played in an independent band back in the ’90s called Liquid Dog, where we recorded and performed original music. It was too much fun!
