I have a brother with down syndrome and grew up attending all his therapy appointments, as well as having a support worker visit our family home once a week. I saw the positive impact a support worker could make, which inspired my own passion for making a difference in others’ lives. To pursue this passion, I obtained a Certificate II in Community Services.
I started at Omnia Inclusive in late February 2016. I met Andrea Matassoni while volunteering with a working group organising the International Day of People with Disability. I was interested to learn more about how Omnia Inclusive supports young adults.
Building meaningful connections with participants and finding new employers who are willing to offer them opportunities to learn new skills through a variety of work experience placements is something I’m passionate about. I also love working with a supportive, passionate team — I always leave work feeling happy and confident that I’ve made a difference.
I am passionate about helping participants reach their goals and achieve their full potential. I love celebrating with them when they succeed — for example, getting their learner driver’s licence after weeks of study, or securing meaningful work experience in their chosen industry. It’s wonderful to see participants build confidence during their placements and take on a valued role in society.
On weekends, I enjoy watching local netball and cheering for the Melbourne Vixens on TV. I went to Italy in Year 9 on a study tour and grew up playing golf and piano.
