IDPwD – Celebrating Erin

Job Centre Australia candidate Erin Tilley, who lives with a mild intellectual disability, came to Job Centre Australia in 2005 and through our partnership with McDonald’s, we placed Erin into employment at the Brookvale restaurant.

Initially catching the bus to work, Erin started with McDonald’s as a crew member/dining room attendant. Job Centre Australia provided on-site support and training, assisting with induction and onboarding, then further training around safety and extra care required when working around hot surfaces, manual handling and heavy lifting.

Erin successfully immersed herself into her role and the McDonald’s team, gaining the confidence and skills to become an independent worker in 2008. This is ultimately the goal of Job Centre Australia, to assist people into long-term, meaningful careers, building their independence, social and employment goals.

In celebration of International Day of People with Disability, Erin together with JCAL CEO Deborrah Lambourne, featured on last night’s Channel 7 News!
